Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System (CODES)
The Crash Outcome Data Evaluation System (CODES) Peer-to-Peer Information Sharing gives States and local Safe Community projects information about resources needed to develop capabilities for linking crash, injury outcome, and other traffic records data.
Description of the Type of Information Available
Staff from CODES/Data Network States are available to States interested in becoming eligible for CODES funding. Practical information is available about:
- How to identify and obtain access to available crash, injury outcome, and other traffic records needed for the CODES linkage;
- Building a statewide coalition to support development of State data systems for EMS and/or emergency department data;
- Building a coalition of the owners/managers of the State data to support and manage the implementation and institutionalization of CODES;
- Identifying the State agency with a traffic safety mission that will be the most effective in administering CODES.
- Overcoming obstacles related to state data with access restricted by legislated/regulated privacy/confidentiality policies.
Format
Class information can be customized and shared via phone, video conferencing, or on-site presentations to match the State's level of data, personnel, and equipment resources available for CODES.
Costs
There are no costs for information shared via phone or video conferencing. Travel costs for on-site presentations may need to be reimbursed.
